This position is responsible for the daily setup and operation of one or more CNC laser or plasma cutting machine and assist other CNC operators with any of their daily duties including area housekeeping, maintenance work, and material staging.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure all equipment is properly set-up and used in safe manner and that all safety devices are in use
• Select proper cutting programs, and proper heads
• Stage raw material for the day’s production
• Perform all dimensional inspections
• Load and unload machine
• Keep an accurate record of parts and scrap produced
• Ensure production schedule follow through as allocated by management
• Assist in loading and unloading team members’ machines when production requires additional manpower to maintain though out
• Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of cutting equipment and work area in accordance with company standards and manufactures machine recommendations
• Perform some machine alignment procedures and optic cleaning to keep equipment at peak operating performance
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Will be required to cross-train as back-up in other areas of manufacturing plant
• Required to have proper and accurate entry into the time and attendance system
• Other job-related duties may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• 1 or more years of manufacturing experience
• 1 or more years of laser operator experience
• Proficient in reading blueprints
• Can properly read a tape measure and a caliper
• Possess some knowledge of and ability to identify fabrication industry metals

Working Conditions:

• Work in a production environment with the risk of injury
• Safety equipment must be worn when working with equipment in the shop
• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
• Position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching
• Employee must occasionally lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
