Machine Operator operates various fabrication machines and fabricates material to specification, from job orders and document production data.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Set-up, adjust, program, calibrate and perform preventative maintenance on fabrication equipment

·         Fabricate materials to specification, from job order and document production data at a level of output that minimizes productions delays

·         Utilize quality checks to ensure all systems are set for correct operational sequencing and to meet product standards

·         Maintain a clean and orderly work area to 5S Standards

·         Understanding of how to use measuring instruments (calipers, protractor, tape measure, steel ruler), read blueprints and operate hand grinder and other hand tools

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Ability to read, write and use basic math skills plus factions and decimals

·         Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to follow precise instructions

·         Will be required to cross-train as back-up in other areas of manufacturing plant

·         Required to have proper and accurate entry into the time and attendance system

·         Other job-related duties may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position

·         Develops working knowledge of the production environment and has ability to respond to change

·         Work to Continuously Improve the operations of the Department through Lean activities and Improvement suggestions

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·         Prefer at least 6 months of experience working with MIG welding

·         Position requires good mathematical ability and the ability to read and interpret blueprints

·         Positions requires the ability to operate precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, protractors, and tape measure

Working Conditions:

·         Work in a production environment with the risk of injury

·         Safety equipment must be worn when working with equipment in the shop

·        Physical demands occasionally required to site; climb and balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

·        Stand for up to 12 hours per day and occasionally life up to 50 pounds, and pushing up to 75 pounds is required
